CV / Bio
Fabio Melone’s art exists in the invisible space between the earthly and the infinite. His work is a poetic exploration of boundaries—navigating the delicate tension between proximity and distance, vulnerability and protection, intimacy and the public eye.
Bodies between skin and images
Fabio Melone's work moves between bodies, images, and threads. He approaches the human figure as a space where visibility and concealment constantly shift. In his paintings, bodies appear masked, fragmented, or partially hidden. Faces dissolve, eyes emerge, and gestures become traces of inner states, allowing the figure to navigate between presence and disappearance.

Bodies form the starting point of his practice. In large-scale paintings, Melone explores the vulnerability and instability of the human figure, focusing on the tension between exposure and protection.

Images enter his work through fragments taken from fashion magazines. Having worked for several years in the fashion industry, he approaches these visuals both from an insider's perspective and with a critical distance. By cutting, covering, and overpainting them, he interrupts their polished surfaces and allows new bodies and identities to emerge.

Threads connect his work to textile and spatial installations. As the grandson of Italian migrant tailors, fabric carries deep personal and historical memory for him. Weaving, stitching, and cloth relate directly to labor, migration, and his family history. In his art, textile often functions as a second skin—something that can protect, conceal, or reveal the body.

Across painting, collage, and installation, Melone explores how bodies become images and how materials carry histories. Eyes, surfaces, and fabrics create moments of encounter between the viewer and the figure, opening a delicate space between intimacy and distance.
